I do Marijuana Everyday for the Protein!
I’m often asked by athletes “What kind of protein do you take?”. My answer is always the same “marijuana!”. I love seeing their reaction. I’m sure more than one has imagined smoking a dube until you can’t find the door handle then deciding you don’t care if you find it or not. One of the side effects of smoking pot is you lose short term memory which translates into losing everything. This is not an article about smoking pot. It is however about the amazing plant that marijuana comes from.
Athletes usually have three protein powders to chose from, whey, soy and hemp. Hemp is the single best source of protein for an athlete. I will refrain from telling you the reasons why you should not take in whey or soy, and there are many. I will point out why hemp is a superior choice. The other sources, in my opinion do not come close. Hemp is the only protein source that provides all 20 amino acids. I know there are only 10 essential amino acids but there are 20 amino acids and what isn’t considered essential today might be tomorrow and given a choice I chose to have all twenty. Hemp protein gets absorbed faster than any other protein and 15g of organic hemp protein powder is more anabolic than 50g whey! Hemp is naturally rich in Omega 3 and Omega 6 acids which can boost heart health and lower triglycerides. Hemp is also free from Gluten, Dairy, Lactose & Soya, GMO, and Hexane. All things one should avoid. Hemp is free from Pesticides and Herbicides, Additives and Preservatives. Hemp grows so easily that It will practically grow through the pavement in a parking lot, it’s hard to kill and does not spoil easily. Hemp cleanses the liver by burning fat. One can not burn fat if the liver isn’t clean and healthy.
Remember whatever source of protein your taking do not listen to the ads or use the recommended servings. The body can only absorb about 10 grams of protein an hour. The rest ends up in the toilet, literally.
