Where is the Best Mexican Restaurant?
I have found it! After years of searching and eating I have found the ultimate Mexican Restaurant. From Greenville, SC. to Atlanta, and Blairsville, Ga to Athens there have been very few times times I have passed up an opportunity to consume chips and dip, and a plate filled to the rim with Mexican cuisine. Being originally from Commerce, Ga I labored under the mistaken opinion that La-Ha was the best. Boy was I wrong. There is a place in little Cornelia, Ga., El Sombreos behind Zaxby’s and across the street from the “old Wal-Mart” that has without a doubt the very best Mexican food I have eaten in my life. It starts with the dip. I can no longer eat the dip that most Mexican restaurants try and pass off as salsa dip. It’s like opening a can of tomato puree, and adding salt and pepper. I have one word for it…YUK. At “the Best” as I now call El Sombreos in Cornelia you can see the chunks of onion, cilantro, and chillis, it’s not over blended into a form that leaves one wondering what was left out. It also has a bite that makes the beer or margaritas that much better. The service there is excellent. The menu is loaded with delicious items my favorite being the shrimp fajita quesadilla, yum. It’s so much food I rarely eat a plate alone but will share with Ms Wanda. She too being a convert from the La-Ha mistake. If you want to taste what Mexican food was meant to taste like and not some hurried Americanized imitation stop by and try El Sombreos and let me know what you think.
Til next time,
